Scrap The Girls challenge

Hi there. I'm back with another layout for another challenge.

Scrap The Girls current challenge is quite stunning.

Current Challenge

My layout ultimately did not have the dark colours of the mood board as I just wasn't in the mood for that!

So I took inspiration from the feathers.

A little hand stitching of course and some dangling wood veneer feathers. My favourite thing on the page. Mind you, stitching and then cutting around those tiny pieces like that was just downright silly of me!

I also added some striped patterned paper which was inspiration from the striped pattern of the mood board also.

A hand stitched tag and wood veneer added more texture to the layout.

Have you noticed the washi tape with the quote?? The design on it almost looks like the painting in the photograph! Serendipitous indeed :)

Thanks for popping by.

Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia challenge

I loved the mood board for July's challenge over at Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia.

My focus was the bottom left hand image of florals on black and the stripes of the top.

No automatic alt text available.

This is what I came up with...

I loved the black and white flowers in the mood board. So I drew some simple flowers on deli paper and cut them out to add to my layout. It's the first time I've done that and I'm pleased with the result.

I added lots of colour with a stack of die cut florals and shapes.

And of course some hand stitching to some of the die cuts for texture.

A few staples here and there and it's done.

Quite a simple layout but it's one of my faves at the moment!

White with 1 challenge - Lavendar Lane

Well, I have to say the White with 1 challenge was a massive challenge for me!

Lavendar Lane is definitely not my thing. Actually, I recently sorted through all my papers to make room for new stock and I got rid of almost all shades of purple.

But I'm not one to shy away from a scrappy challenge :)

Right from the start, I wanted to scrap a black and white photo with this page.

The page turned out quite minimalist indeed.

I used Close To My Heart ink in Pansy to stencil the sun burst.
Then I hand stitched over some of the rays.

Papers were from Hip Kit Club and Close To My Heart.
I added some white tissue paper for a bit of texture.

I inked the XOXO wood veneer with CTMH pansy ink. It came out a little too dark so I hid part of the wood veneer beneath the photo.

How cute is that bulldog clip! Perfect colour too.

My journaling cluster included a sticker journal tab and tissue paper.
I added some stapling to give some texture.

Scattered over the page were sequins, gems and tiny florals.

Thanks for popping by :)

My return with a Stuck?! Sketches challenge

So let's just acknowledge my absence here and move on!!

I have been doing a little scrapbooking and no blog posting.

I've done lots of painting and collage along with the little scrapbooking.
My return post needed to have a page that included a few of my favourite things.

I've played along with the Stuck?! Sketches challenge this month and boy, did I love my return to paper land. I had a ball.

And here is my layout. Lots of flowers, pretty bibs and bobs and some hand stitching.
My papers included Pink Fresh Studio, Simple Stories and Pink Paislee.

I did a lot of fussy cutting - florals and butterflies.
The butterflies were fussy cut from Crate Paper patterned paper.

Some wood veneer to had a little more interest. The title is a Kaisercraft die cut.

And I couldn't leave it without some hand stitching. I just love the texture and interest that hand stitching adds to a layout.

Thank you for checking out the blog. And yes, I will back with more frequent layouts from here on!
